How much should a 16 hh quarter horse gelding weigh?

And can a quarter horse really carry a bit more than some other breeds? My brother weighs 240 (Not so much of fat though, he's just a massive football player) and he wants to take group lessons with me but pretty much all the horses at my barn are quarter horses. The only draft cross we have is not really for beginners.
