What is the proper way for us deafies to say "I'm listening."?

I don't know deaf etiquette but it does seem proper to say "I'm listening." Hearing is one thing, and listening is something else. Listening means paying attention, in whatever way you do that. Even hearing can be figurative, as when people say "I hear you" but they mean "I get what you're saying."
